I would like to have my nose pierced but I am curious if in say 10 or 20 yrs if I decide to take the piercing out will I still have a 'hole' similar to that when you get your ears pierce. Is it one of those things that it just depends on how your skin / body heal?

Even your ears will heal up if you leave an earring out of them for long enough. Even if it's been 10yrs they can still heal up. One of my piercings that I had for 2 or 3 years I took out (just was tired of it) and it pretty much healed up within a couple days. It also depends on where on your body the piercing is. Some places are quicker to heal then others.

But in any case you shouldn't look at getting a piercing as something that is trendy, think of it as something that is permanent. Something that will always be here. Say you get your nose pierced and it gets really infected and you have to take it out, it can leave you with a scar. Usually something that small you can't see, but with larger piercings (say your navel) can leave some scars, believe me I know.

Hopefully this helps you in your decision.

I had a pierced lower lip for three years and then I had to give up the piercing. I do have a slight indentation/scar where the labret used to be. It doesn't look like much and many people don't notice it, but it is there.

Candyfloss.... have you thought about changing the jewelry you are wearing? Your nose is going to be a mess if you are always losing the jewelry and repiercing it again.... great way to build up scar tissue...

You sound like you might really enjoy wearing a nostril screw style piece of jewelry in that the curled wire back prevents this.
