Navel piercings are some of the angriest body piercings, really!
Navels can take a year or more to heal, and this is pretty much the experience for at least half the folks who decide to get this piercing.
Redness can last for a long time, and often belly button piercings are red although they feel fine. They can also be red, hotly swollen and weeping and be healing well. The bulk of the piercing community has learned that less is more when it comes to navels: use the simplest cleansing method you can, often just taking hot water soaks will help it better than a fancy antibiotic ointment.
