Does your town or local area have any urban legends? Share 'em with us!

We had one when I was growing up. A kid a few streets over was rumoured to be in a satanic cult, sacrificing animals in the woods behind my house. Kids used to say they saw the body of my missing (and never found) cat slaughtered there. Needless to say I never investigated <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Still, it was a rampant rumour and really grew to quite a legend--the kid in question was a real punk and enjoyed the infamy!

yeah.. one of my teachers at school had a legend he told us. His parents abused him so he went to livce with his cousin, but the dad was satanic. Every night he would hear children downstair playing.. would run down there and see nothing but the balls would bounce and everything. One day he was sleeping and he heard "tap tap tap" and looked up and there was this guy standing outside the window.. so he woke up his cousin and saw nothing.. then it happened 2 more times.. then the next morning they told the parents and the parents said "your crazy, your window is on the second story....."

I go to a very old school, thats about 700 years old and the school brought one of the buildings from an old cotton mill that used child labour. On average two children would die a week in that building. The school renovated it and turned it into a science block. The building is haunted, and the lad technitions (who work in the building) all claim to have heard and seen strange things....
