I love big dogs. Small dogs annoy the [censored] out of me. My doggy is a Pit, Black lab, Australian shepard, Wolf mix. She is beautiful, with big baby blue eyes, and well behaved (except the hole digging). She is very old and only has few years left. When she passes and I have the opportunity to get another dog (she lives with my parents because I live in an apartment) I will definately be getting one from the pound.
There are too many unwanted animals to buy one from a breeder. Why support dog breeding when I can save a dog from euthanasia?

That's a good point. When our 2 year old let our cat out of the house I went to the Humane Society every day to see if someone might have brought her in.
I decided it would be a very dangerous thing for me to work or volunteer there, I would wind up bringing home half of the animals, especially the ones that were slated for being "put to sleep"!

My favorite breed is the Dachshund... I like both miniature and standard (and have had both) but the minis are near and dear to my heart. I have two right now, both adorable, intelligent, precocious and stubborn... I love them intensely.
I've always been partial to big dogs... Pit bulls, Danes, Wolfhounds, Akitas... They all rank among my favorites. But I've discovered that Dachshunds are big dogs... They just have short little legs. *grins* Well, they think they are, anyway... The smaller they really are, the bigger they think they are.
[color:"Red"] You tell me that I sin. You say I'm bound for hell. So once your judgment condemns you I SHALL SEE YOU THERE.

Yeah, my little 5 lb pom thought he was real big too when he faced up to our neighbor's Doberman from behind our fence. Then he met her face to face one day... it change his perspective a little bit. LOL

Hi - I love the Chow Chow. Definitely my favorite. Had one for 15 years and miss her so much now that she is gone. When she passed, I vowed to never have another dog. Even so -- It has been 10 years now, and I think I'm finally ready for another Chow Chow.
Chow Chows are very loyal and make wonderful companions. And they are sooooo cute and cuddly with all that fur! :-)

Nobody mentioned the greyhound!I am noe offended...kidding.
My favorite breed is the greyhound...I do not own one,but had co-ownership of 3...they belonged to a dear friend of mine...unfortunatly she only has one left,a beautiful 9 yr old red brindle named Darcy. He is my boy!!!
I do volunteer work with the local rescue organization... GPAC ~ Greyhound Pets of Atlantic Canada...and I have been with them a little more then 4 yrs now!I love it and love the greyhound.Once I move into a better place,I will definatly be adopting one...or two.I have experiance with them now and know everything about thise beautiful breed.

I have only just joined - otherwise I would have mentioned it, Vegratty. Take a look here - http://www.greyhoundsforlife.thefourcorners.co.uk/
A greyhound is for life - not just for racing.
