The other option is to use Yojimbo Zanmato. You "lose" a fight and a lot of money, but at least you get into the temple in a short time.
To train Yojimbo I used to fight Belgemine in Remiem temple. After various fights (don't pay more then 1024 gils. Try with 128 gils as well)you see that Yojimbo starts to do some free zanmatos. The go to calm lands and use Yojimbo there paying him few gils. If he does zanmato often he is ready. Go to besaid with Yuna or Yojimbo overdrive gauge full, save, pay him something like 270.000 gil, and Dark Valefor should be gone. If not, soft reset and try again. To make money fight Mimics in Omega Ruins. I found many going left, then right at the room, then left again, going to the end in that corridor.
