OK here's what you've got to do:

On "My Profile", click "Update Profile" then on "avatar image" part, click "select a different avatar image", on the URL bar on lower part, type the URL of the pic you want to use and click "Set URL" and after the photo was shown, click "select this avatar."

Oh almost forgot...if the pic is from your PC, upload it on a site.

Hope that helps <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

i had this prob as well <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

i found it only worked if the pic was on page on its own with its own url

if not try right-click, properties, and get the url from there <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Well save it as a pic and upload it elsewhere and use that url, as remote linking to someone elses site is not good for several reasons

1 - If they have to pay for site bandwidth etc, remote linking uses their bandwidth and can not help their site

2 - If they change the pic, then you either get a missing avatar or a the new pic if the path to it remains the same (somebody did this on my friends site and ended up just getting porn pics instead)

3 - Some sites have scripts running which will disable the ability to remote link

There are enough free hosting sites to be able to host it at and also it means you can change avatars and sigs etc but still keep your old ones hosted somewhere if you wish to go back to them
