Ok, so I finally finished FFVII (first time since when I bought it 6-7 years ago... Can you imagine? ). Pretty cool, I've got all characters (Vincent and Yuffie included) all LVL4 limits, ultimate weapons, and sent Sephiroth to the farplane (I didn't bother to fight the last two weapons, though. I wasn't really interested) enjoying the final scenes. Well, cool, but definetively FF7 is not my favourite.

Then I took back my last save of FFVIII. I am at Ultimecia castle, I've got ragnarock through the hidden 4th teleport. Level 100 for Squall and Zell. Rinoa at 85 or so. Quistis near 60, pretty low the other 2.


Questions so far:

- Squall Limit break: how do I get Lion Heart? Refining the weapon? That's it? The missing parts? Do I need to remodel the other weapons as well?
- Limit breaks generally speaking: I see *few* of them!! Only Rinoa seems to do some automatically (Angel Rush?) and Zell. I know Aura accelerate the frequency, but really I have no clue when they come out.
- Can I choose any limit break for any character?
- What's that thing pushing square when summoning?? My nephew showed me that! <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
- Ultima magic: where?
- Jumbo Cactuar: he always escapes after half an hour of fighting!

- I miss: Carbuncle, Doomtrain, Tonberry and Eden GFs. Lost forever? Or is it not too late?

I know, a lot of question as usual. Don't worry, I just need few answers to close the game. I just would like to beat Ultima Weapon, get Cactuar GF (well, now I really want it, it is a matter of principle), the limit breaks. Any help would do. Thank you as usual.

You just need to refine the lionheart weapon, then you'll get it

they come when your HP is low, in the yellow and stuff or when u got Aura

- Can I choose any limit break for any character?
Zells you can choose between a couple in the duel progress.
Rinoa besides her automatic ones.
Irvine different bullets
Quistis the skills she learned
Selphie "do over"

- What's that thing pushing square when summoning?? My nephew showed me that!
Thats the Boost ability, press square when the red cross is not visible, and try and get as high as possible for more damage

- Ultima magic: where?
Couple of draw points, there's one for money which you can go to at that Shumi tribe.
Refine 100 ultima stones into 100 ultima magic

- Jumbo Cactuar: he always escapes after half an hour of fighting!

- Erasing GF abilities: what do I need and where do I find them?
You need Amnesia Greens you can buy them in some of the pet shops

- Odin: He keeps killing my party. Should I be faster? I read we can "upgrade" him to a better GF?
You need to beat him within the time limit else you die. later on He'll be killed by Seifer and then Gilgamesh will come occasionally instead of Odin.

- I miss: Carbuncle, Doomtrain, Tonberry and Eden GFs. Lost forever? Or is it not too late?
Depends on where you are in the game, you can get a couple of them later on, you can get still on disc 3 and Tonberry aswel Eden aswel, when you reach disc 4 and are in Ultimecia's castle you can draw a couple of them from certain bosses.

To get Doomtrain

use loads of overdrives, you can draw Eden from him don't forget that, lionheart helps, but hero's or holy wars help the most

- For AP gaining I fight cactuars in the Island. For Exp?
Yep they are fast but they give 20 AP each

- best way to kill that Ultimecia b**ch!!! I tried so many times in the past, but I always reached the 4th Ultimecia and then finished the magic. Well, I didn't really know how to play FF games, I must say.
Use lots of overdrives especially lionheart, you could use "The End" a limit break of selphies
and for extra damage draw Apocalypse 3 times from her.

refine the laguna card to get 100 heroes, hero+lion heart and you'll own anything in the game <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> and if you beat all the members of the CC group before disc 4 you can endlessly refine cards as you can win your refined cards back from them in the raganarok on disc 4

You need Energy Crystals, Adamantine, and a few screws if I remmeber correctly.

Adamantine won from adamantoise on a pointy beach
and screws from the cards

Push the O button when you have aura or low HP (just above yellow is low).
What that does is refresh your command screen and you just hope it comes back with the limit break option

No.
Squall, Rinoa and Selphie are completely random

Boost. It boosts the power of the GF according to the number you get it up to.
The highest number is 255 (that is 255% of the original power) and it is possible to achieve that on all GFs


- Ultima magic: where?
There are two islands on the west and east of the world map. They have Heaven and Hell in their names.
(To see the names enter the menu by pushing / )
These islands have heaps of hidden draw points that have powerful magics.
But also these two islands have powerful monsters (most powerful is the Malboro)


- Jumbo Cactuar: he always escapes after half an hour of fighting!
Then beat it before then
Try using limit breaks since you have unlimited of it


- Odin: He keeps killing my party. Should I be faster? I read we can "upgrade" him to a better GF?

Equip yourself with Diabolos's Enc-none ability
(you DO know how to do that right???)
then go ahead and fight Odin. Odin will never attack you either, you just have to beat him before the time limit expires

since you are on disk 4 it is too late to gain Carbunkle properly (you needed to draw it from the bosses before the end of disk 1)
But you can gain it by drawing from one of the bosses in Ultimicia's Castle (but you probably have beaten them all to unlock all your commands and abilities)

Use the ragnarok and fly down to a hidden island (i think it is south, i dont remember now)
Enter the cave and walk to the pillar thing.
Answer the correct questions (i think it goes 1st 2nd 3rd(hidden))
Then if you asnwered correctly you fight Bahamut.
Then you gotta make yourway down the place fighting a groups of strong asss monsters every step that you take (or every 4 steeps if you have Enc-none)
Then when you get to teh bottom of the place equip Sirens ablity taht lets you see hidden save points and SAVE.
then prepare for your ultima weapon fight.
not a very hard fight.
And NO you do not need LionHeart weapon

Go to Heaven and Hell islands on the west and east side of the map

Dude...I have 2 words for you
Use Limit Breaks
Keep your HP low or stay in Aura Status and keep using Renzokuken, AP Ammo, and Zell's limit breaks
Use Leviathan's command "Recover" to restore full HP to one character (or megalixer if you want)

Well guys, thanx a lot as usual! I've finally got Lion Heart! I couldn't get the Energy Crystals. I have been beating dozens of Ruby dragons and nothing. Then eventually they gave me the crystals. Weird. I am after Ultima, now. Tough beast I must say. he is very fast. Since I kept Squall in low HP (great hint the O button to get the limit break) he manages to kill my party. So, here a couple of questions. remind that I did not win any card game at all (and I am at the end of disc 4, Ultimecia Castle):

- easy spot to get Hero medicine?
- same for Aura (well, I think now I can refine various of them. But I would like more <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> )

Then Tonberry GF. I've got plenty of Chef's knifes (25 or so), but it does not appear. I want to be able to buy stuff. Jumbo Cactuar is gone. yep, limit break, limit break and limit break again. Very good, to reach the end of the second play to understand how to use them. Typical of me. <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Pretty game, though, once you understand it. It's the second most favourite of mine after FFX, now. Maybe one day I will play it again. Now I am just looking forward to get most of the GFs I can and slash that Ultimecia witch.

bleh... after you've defeated Odin you need to beat like an average of 15 tonberrys and then it'll show up... well thats always how it was with me

Yeah... King Tonberry showed up killing few Tonberries only after beating Odin. Well, that's it. Out of curiosity, since I've got all possible GFs (what's that Eden summoning thing? It takes forever. I know, good for boosting) apart from Carbuncle, I didn't bother to break all seals (only a couple remaing, though. Plus Omega weapon). Lion heart, 4-5 Auras, 3-4 megalixirs, obviously Item and Magic unlocked and she was gone in 20-25 minutes. At the end i've got scared, all graphics was messed up!! Time kompression, right? I thought my disc had problems when it happened! I wonder how in hell I could beat her with that graphics without Lion Heart and just using magic like I tried to do 4 years ago... If you guys want a challenge for FFVIII do the No Limit breaks one. It was taking more then 3 hours with Ultimecia and I usually ended up smashed. So that's it. I did beat all FF games for PS (one and 2). Best of all I've got the trick I couldn't realize before... Forget magic and summoning and go for the overdrives, limit breaks, 9999 ripetitive shots (well, FFX-2 differs a little, it has combos as well) with yellow HP... I always thought reading around "but are they doing it just with the weapons??? That's impossible!". yeah, impossible my a*s, it is indeed the way to do things right. Well, waiting for FFXII, now. I don't know about FFXI. I find it way too expensive. It is just a matter of principle, you know.

I've beaten Ultimecia in FF VIII without Limit breaks the first time I played it.

If you want a REAL FF VIII challenge try to do it without junctioning <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

And it's usually go for the overdrives, xcept in FF 7, sure they are strong, but nothing beats a good equiped materia system.
i.e. the magic absorb knights of the round strategy :rolleyes:
you start of by summoning knights of the round and while he attacks you gain magic power back, and basicly you win... it's easy

As for FF XI, it's one of the BEST MMORPGs ever from what I've heard but indeed way too expensive I ain't gonna buy it

And as for FF 12 (remember all FF's after FF XI will have numbers instead of roman letters)
I've heard that you will actually see the monsters comming at you it's not a "random" encounter anymore! and it's spose to be a breaktrough RPG it'll use loadsa new stuff from what I've heard.
