I just have to share this with fellow bird lovers, as only you would know how special this wasj! 2 mornings ago, I was getting dressed for work. My wonderful dh was already down at the barn, doing the stalls, so he wasn't there to share the site. I had my back turned to my window, and thought I heard birds that sounded unfamiliar. I turned around to see about 20 Cedar Waxwings just covering my cedar tree outside my window! The tree looked like it was alive, since it was just full of birds all eating the very ripe berries! Oh my gosh, I've never seen that many Cedar Waxwings at once! They are such beautiful birds! Since then, Dave's seen them, again, at the cedar tree, helping themselves to the berries. I've got to keep my camera on my nightstand and see if I can snag a photo of this! Very cool!

Ooh! I'd be so thrilled if I ever saw that!

I have a cute story. One day last summer my husband yelled at me from the back yard to come and see the funny little bird. It was just sitting on a table and he was feeding it a worm.

The bird was a juvenile cedar waxwing! By the time I came back in to get the bird book to confirm, it had disappeared, apparently it flew away because we couldn't find it. We've never seen any waxwings around here. We don't know where it came from or where it went!

We thought that it might have gotten a little sick or tipsy from fermented berries. It did excrete a cherry pit while it was sitting there.

That's pretty funny, it just sat there while he fed it a worm? The only wild bird we've fed was a little nuthatch that flew full tilt into our back window and stunned itself. We put it on our picnic table and fed it water and suet until it got itself sorted out again, and then it flew off.
