Question About Kingdom Hearts-Deep Jungle-- Climbing Trees wilted flowers

When Sora is Examining the Wilted Flowers he says:
"Hiting the flowers won't make them open."
"I wonder what would happen if all the flowers bloomed?"
"When the flowers grow black the heartless are near."

I hit the flowers with the keyblade and they turned from black to a sorta white color.
I can zap some with magic like Fire and they will open and some won't open unless I use Blizzard or Thunder.
I have opened all the flowers I think and nothing happens and when I leave and come back they are closed again and black.

Is some thing suppose to happen when all are open?
Should I hit the flowers and then open them with magic?
Should I use the same magic on each one?
What should I do?

Ok have you completed Deep Jungle?

If not then this could or not be a spoiler.

Jane is taken away and so is a gorilla so then you have to go to the place where you have to smack away a giant black pod.

While you are trying to smack it dead you get attacked by powerwild heartless (the monkeys)
By casting blizzard on all the little flower pods you open them up

If you managed to open all of them up then all the heartless will leave you alone and go away leaving you free to smack that giant black pod without interference from heartless.
