They actually like the aphids that will eat your geraniums. Ladybugs are pretty helpful in gardens - they eat the pests that will eat your plants.
They get to be a problem when they lay their eggs in your insulation in the winter - because they leave their pheromones behind, which just attracts more ladybugs - and then you have tons of these little guys. They don't actually hurt anything, but it is kind of annoying when you have a whole bunch of them hatch at one time inside your house!
