You know,from what I have seen, the producing the baby part is the easiest part. Ergo, becoming a Mother is not all that difficult if not practically effortless(sans the physical piece). Of course, there are a few individuals out there who for one reason or another have trouble making a baby, but they are the exception not the rule. So the endless accolades for becoming a mother are a little over the top. Just about anyone can get preggers and have a wee one. I think the parties and showers should come at the end when 'baby' has grown into adulthood and become a PRODUCTIVE and INDEPENDANT member of society. How many parents today have 20 or 30 year old children living with them still???? Its just sad.
