I have always heard that the Catholics ask mary to interessed for themselves or for others. She is believed to have pull with Jesus like a mother has pull over her son. the example i have always been told it is like this.
lets say you are haveing car trouble and your friends son is a macanic and you want him to take a look at your car and tell you want needs to be done. you ask your friend to talk to her son so he will take a look at your car. you have a better chance at him looking at your car if the mother asked for you.
