Great puzzle Shelley! I liked the difficulty of the round one. Even if the head was cut off.
DH suggested Dung Beetle. LOL They are a nice shiny black.

I know this one may be a stretch, but you said some of the answers might not be so obvious, and I think you'll have to agree that this one would qualify as one of those obscure answers that could easily be glossed over.
