I haven't watched the Oscar-nominated film "Mank" and not sure I will. It is yet another take on critic Pauline Kael's assertion that Orson Welles had nothing to do with the screenplay for "Citizen Kane". Herman Mankiewicz, in Kael's and "Mank" director David Fincher's opinion, deserves all the credit. Various Welles' scholars have proved otherwise, however. A well-researched article published today on The New Yorker's website concludes "Mank" distorts the legacy of Welles and his work.
