I still can't believe it - but then I just think Willie Nelson is great. May he should retire now (sorry if I am stepping on toes!) but I am a fan of his music for sure.

Just cut and paste this link to your browser and see what you see - if it had been on of the silent movies I would have lost any bet, would never have guessed who was singing.

(Willie Nelson 1965)

Crazy.

Nope, not time for Willie to retire.

As he says, "I been a long time leaving but I'm going to be a long time gone."

Hey there Mona,

I was listening to the radio recently and heard him singing 'Mama don't let your kids grow up to be cowboys ...' and it was apparently from one of his latest albums of biggest hits or something (am not checking this so if I am wrong sorry) and while his unmistakable style came through he was hardly singing - breath control was minimal, ends of sentences collapsed into words ... and there was almost a impatience for the song to be over.

Anyway, while his reputation for playing on the grass will always be a topic of conversation, maybe the show must go on.

Love him or love him - Willie is great.

Cheers

"As though he was hardly singing" Well, that is a sad thing to happen. Guess it's good that he's had a long productive career of great things we can still listen to.

I am not a fan of country and him so I cannot say if he indeed should retire or not but I do know how it is when you are a fan of people who are destroying their careers because they cannot see they should stop (Metallica - i cannot believe how they sound like now - the first album after Jason Newsted left i listened and it was so awful + the drums sounded like Lars was hitting garbage cans - by the way im not 1 of those that says they sold out before because i like every albums before then - and it looks like James has totally lost it - its very sad).
