I'd love to hear about the dolls you are making or the clothes you're making for them.

Right now I'm working on a pattern for a small (9 inch) cloth doll that is requiring a lot of trial and error. I'm happy with the body, arms and legs but the head is going to need at least one more redo, if not more.

I haven't even begun to work on clothes for it yet!
Well, I finished the doll and a dress for her. The dress pattern will be coming next week, so watch for it. You can see the doll here:

9 Inch Destiny Cloth Doll

She is shown in the soft sculpture cradle. You can get instructions for it here:

Soft Sculpture Doll Cradle

The doll and cradle would make a great gift for doll lovers of all ages, but I especially love them for the littlest doll lovers because they are all so soft.

Enjoy!
I have got to get two more 'Topsy-Turvey' dolls made before March 7 for two birthdays in my family.
I would love to see pictures, Phyllis!
So, it's been a while since I asked, back to my question... what dolls are you working on now? Any new dolls, or interesting clothes or accessories?

Have you finished any dolls you wanted to make for Easter? easter

Please share your stories with us.
I forgot to take pictures of the dolls before I gave them away. I will make another for myself and get a picture for you.

Right now I am working on my Native American dolls and their beaded dresses - lots of fun, but, soooo much work!
Wow, Phyllis. That does sound like a lot of work, but a lot of fun, also. I've never done beading on fabric before, I don't know if I'd have the patience. I have done beaded crochet and enjoyed it a lot. In fact I made jewelry for my dolls with beaded crochet and wrote an article about it: Jewelry For Your Dolls.

I'd love to see a photo when you can take one and post it.
Here are pictures of my Navajo doll. She is 9", all cloth. The belt I made of tiny turquoise seed beads with silver spacers. I put turquoise and coral beads in her hair.

These are the moccasins and leggings and pantaloons:

Oh, Phyllis, how beautiful! What an amazing amount of work!

I love the little moccasins and leggings, so cute. Its obvios your dolls are truly a labor of love, thank-you so much for sharing photos with us.
Thank you, Helen. They are very much a labor of love. I started making them to sell and the first two I made, this one and one other will stay with me. I have six other dolls made and am working on their dresses. Each one will be representing a different tribe.

Here is one of my dolls, I made her a few years ago. I've just finished another similar to this which was commissioned by Australian Country Threads Magazine [img:center]http://www.stitchingcow.com/uploads/image/jane.jpg[/img]
Hi Stitching Cow,

Thank-you so much for sharing the photo of your doll. She is lovely! I just love the fabric for her dress and collar. Did you make her little bag as well? It looks, in the photo, like you used lace for her hair, is that correct? If so, what a nice idea, it gives a nice effect and adds to the overall effect of the doll.

Hello,
I am working on a "Guppy" sculpt which I bought from Apple Valley and which I ordered in a biracial skin tone. I am using the cloth body for a 28" doll so it looks as though she will be - with the limbs she has - approximately 24".

The eyebrows are the most difficult part. For the hair I will be using the beautiful "Vanessa" wig from Monique.

Hi Chris,

Thank you Helen.
I have one of my last doll, but gotta figure out how to post it ...it's on my hard drive so doesn't have a url. Do you post pics here from a host like Photobucket ?
Hi Chris,

Yes, Photobucket will work. The photo has to live on the internet, somewhere, to be able to post it here.

Hi, I have one doll right now, she is a Victorian Rose Collection Doll and from my research they are cheap porcelain dolls. I was inspired by Michele Hamilton's Sewing Victorian Doll Clothes. I found her at our local Salvation Army for $5. Her original dress was hunter green satin with some cheap lace layered on top. I unstitched her dress to draft a pattern from it. I like the embroidery on her collar. Did you do that yourself?
Hi All,

I am fascinated by reborn dolls, particularly the most realistic looking ones. Are any of you working on one? I just wrote an article about beginning my work in this area. You can read it here: Starting to Reborn Dolls .

I'm interested to hear what paints and supplies you are using. Please share with us what has worked for you and what has not.

Hi Elaine,

Welcome to the Doll Making Forum. BTW, I would give anything to live at the Jersey Shore, I'm from Jersey and have a lifetime of happy memories from the shore.

Anyway, your photo has to live somewhere on the net, such as photo bucket. There are other ones, as well. Then you want to click the button below your reply that says "switch to full reply screen". Once that screen opens there are a line of buttons across the top of the box. The 4th one from the left is the one that assists you to enter an image. Then follow the prompts.

I hope this helps and I'd love to see a photo of your doll.

well i have one on my website can i copy and paste it from there
I don't know. Sites like photo bucket exist for people to show photos on other sites. You may create a problem for your website exceeding band width if you post the photo here. I don't know much about it, though. Does anyone else know?
