Some members have asked for a weekly Mon weigh-in to keep them motivated.

Here we go!

Today I am 129.4lb. Last week I was lower, but I'm in a "bloaty stage" so we'll see what I am at next week smile. I don't stress too much about the 1-2 pound fluctuations. I keep an eye on the overall trend. I tend to bloat and unbloat during parts of the month, and that's OK.

Feel free to chime in if you wish!

OK it's our Monday weigh-in! Time to take stock of your progress toward whatever goals you have set!

Today I am 127.4. I am 18.4% fat, 56.6% water, and 36.1 pounds of muscle.

How are you guys doing toward your goals?

Wow, I don't know if I'm brave enough to post my stats. But you so inspire me, Lisa.

I need to get a scale. How do you know about your body fat percentage and water, etc.?
Posted By: Lisa LowCarb Re: Weekly Monday Weigh-In - 04/10/13 04:48 PM
Lori - it's fine to just track them yourself at home! The key is to be aware of your body and to know what it's doing. It's always better to know than to not know.

Many modern scales tell you your fat, muscle, water, etc. when you stand on them. Even WalMart and other basic stores carry the scales. So it's worth taking a look!

It's our Monday weigh-in! How are you doing? I'm on steroids for this poison ivy so I'll be bloating for two weeks smile I'm at 129.6, 18.8% fat, 55.8% water, 36.9lb muscle, 4.6 bone mass.

Lisa, I am just SO IMPRESSED that you're still going strong here at Bella!! I started writing with you/Bella in 2005 or 2006 I believe, then moved on to my own blogs and freelance writing projects. Since then, I've been all over the map professionally, but always blogged consistently.

I'm just awed by you, that Bella is still the same. It's like coming home - I'm glad you haven't changed how Bella looks. I remember a few changes a few years ago - a new forum maybe? But I wanted to tell you that I think it's smart to keep it looking the same. It makes us feel like we're coming home in a world that seems to move so fast!

Cheers,
Laurie

Laurie -

Thank you so much, I'm glad you're having a great life!

Lisa, Lisa, Lisa, Lisa-

What a brave girl you are. Like Lori, I am not certain that I have the balls or bravery to actually state what my weight is, but I think I can handle mentioning whether or not I am obtaining my goals and how many pounds I am losing each Monday.

This might really kick my efforts into gear. Thanks for always being you- upfront and honest. I'm inspired.
Posted By: Lisa LowCarb Re: Weekly Monday Weigh-In - 04/15/13 05:27 PM
Yvonnie -

Certainly pounds lost is fine! Whatever helps to motivate you!

I'm a firm believer that knowing is better than not knowing, and the more I can share that might help others, the more I will do so. I don't mind posting photos of my poison ivy or whatever else might be helpful. We are all in this world together.

Monday weigh-in is here! After my week of juice cleanse I am 122.8lb 17.2% fat 57.6% water 36.8lb muscle - how are you doing?
Posted By: Lisa LowCarb Re: Weekly Monday Weigh-In - 05/08/13 08:01 PM
I'm a bit late in posting this, but this was from Monday 5/6.

My son James was over for the weekend, which always means I eat a little less healthily than usual. We went out for a birthday dinner with my dad and I had a piece of cake.

Also I'm off the juicing cleanse now. So I'm returning a bit towards my typical weight.

So I am at 125.2lb 17.7% fat 57.0% water 37.1lb muscle.

How are you guys doing? Making progress?

I gained 5 pounds between 30 minutes before my surgery and a day after. I thought it was from fluids and wasn't too worried. Now it's still here and I'm thinking--what's that about?
Posted By: Lisa LowCarb Re: Weekly Monday Weigh-In - 05/08/13 10:07 PM
Terri -

I wouldn't worry about it at all while your body heals. It could easily be holding onto water while it goes through all its healing activities.

Also, if you can, I'd get a scale that measures body fat. That way you can see if you are actually gaining fat, or if it's water or something else. That way you know what's going on.
Posted By: Terri Jo Re: Weekly Monday Weigh-In - 05/08/13 10:22 PM
Thanks Lisa. I think I will get that scale real soon.

not too bad considering since then I've been on wine trip to Alsace for a week, 3+ weeks on holiday in USA, AWS conference, two banquets ...

rate of loss is slowing but still going down

Lisa - how do you find your fat/muscle/water weights?
Posted By: Lisa LowCarb Re: Weekly Monday Weigh-In - 12/04/13 12:23 AM
Peter -

In the US, pretty much every "general purpose" store we've been in has these scales in with their other weight scales. They look just like regular bathroom scales. We've had a whole series of them over the years. You step on them with bare feet and they send a mild electrical current up one leg and down the other (i.e. it naturally completes the circuit). If you then tell it your height, the system knows your weight, and can calculate your body composition based on the speed of that signal.

Do they not have those in the UK?

weight - 126.6lb
fat - 18.3%
water - 56.7%
muscle - 36.1 pounds

I hadn't looked, I was unaware of such a thing.

But I see that similar scales are available in UK, including the one you write about which is on Amazon.co.uk at a ferocious price.

But I am dubious of how a mild electric current can differentiate between bone, muscle and water bodily content.

There is a very interesting and detailed review on amazon.com THIS PRODUCT IS A SHAM!By R. Repine on July 9, 2012 that raises concerns about the methodilogy and accuracy fo the product.

OK - passed a mile stone today

77.3 KG - that makes 30 KG since I started in Feb at 107.4
took 9 weeks to lose first 10 kg
took 12 weeks to lose second 10 kg
took 19 weeks to lose third 10 kg (but that included 4 weeks living in hotels and eating out 3 times a day, including two formal banquets, 2.5 weeks visiting Missouri wineries and .5 week at the American Wine Society conference smile

FYI 10kg = 22.05 pounds. 30kg = 66.14 pounds

Peter -

That's great!

Some of the scales are cheap imitators - but many of them work quite well. Bob and I have done numerous tests with them, comparing them against other industry standard measurements including a variety of fat-testing devices, and they come out fairly accurate.

Posted By: Peter - Wine Re: Weekly Monday Weigh-In - 01/01/14 01:48 PM
Well, today reached 76.2kg, so close to my original target of 76kg.

Previous weigh a week ago I had gained weight, 0.5kg, which was shock 'cos it's the first weight rise since I started in Feb, but this week I had lost that 0.5 plus another 0.2 making a loss this week of 0.7kg (1.54pounds)

Now, my original target was 12 stone (168 pound) - which I converted to 76kg. But actually, 12 stone is 76.2kg so I have reached my original target. Huzzah!

But .... my doctor looked at the BMI chart and it seems for my height 5'7 I am still 'overweight' and I have to go down to 70kg (11 stone) to drop to 'healthy' weight....

so another 6.2kg/1 stone/14 pounds to go smile

Today passed the 10 stone barrier ...

Weight 63.0 kilo exact = 9.92 stones = 138.89 pounds

Loss since start in Feb 2013 44.4 K = 6.99 stone = 97.88 pounds

I'm aiming to maintain this weight. I could lose more, but I am cold much of the time. I've gone from XL and XXL clothing to S, from 42inch waist trousers that were tight to 32 inch that are loose, from 16inch collar regular shirts to 14.5 inch slimfit shirts

Question
For body weight we think in stones here in UK, but the US thinks in pounds, so what are the sort of barriers you have, is it multiples of 10, such as 'I'm aiming to be 120/100/90 pounds?
Posted By: Lisa LowCarb Re: Weekly Monday Weigh-In - 10/20/14 06:57 PM
Peter -

that's awesome!

Yes I have the milestone signs that I load up in every 5 pounds. Some people try to think in 10 pounds but that's a long way to go. It's better to think in 5 pounds as a short term goal.

So I'm at 136 pounds and am aiming to cross the 135 pound barrier.

My weigh in will have to wait till end of month.

Have no scales.

We've been travelling since 7 December via Sydney to New Zealand. Spent Christmas and New Year by the beach at Paihia on the North Island. Tomorrow travel down to the South Island.

Typical day, go for a jog, have breakfast on balcony overlooking bay, go for a walk, visit a winery, have a great lunch with wine at the winery, come back to apartment, read and write, get takeaway curry, pizza, fish'n'chips, chicken, bottle of wine, read, go to sleep.

Undoubtabtly am putting on some weight, but haven't had to loosen belt yet.

This is where we are www.breakwatermotel.co.nz The second and third photo on their homepage slideshow is of the bedroom and living room of the apartment I'm typing this in

Time to get my Wii set up in the basement so I can dance!

How are you guys doing toward your goals? Making progress?
Sadly, not really. I've been stalled at around `150, and today it's 152. Not sure if this is water bloat or if I've actually gained the weight. I'm reviewing my choices this past week and am going to cut out all juice to see if that helps. I'm also trying to watch my starches again - I don't seem to be able to metabolize them if I have them at more than one meal. Alas, portion control remains difficult, but I have hope!

Thanks, everyone, for reading this, and thanks, Lisa, for the post.
You are an inspiration! That's almost 200 pounds lost, isn't it? You completely rock!

Weekly weigh-in time! I'm now 142.2lb, 21.6% fat, 52.7% water, 37.6lb muscle. I've been above 140 for severalr months now. I need to get back below 140 before my body decides this is my new set weight and it fights to keep me here. Mostly it means getting more active! I do my daily yoga but I'm not Dance-Dance-Revolution dancing any more. Time to clean the basement!

How are you doing?

Weekly Weigh-in time. 144.0lb, 22.3% fat, 52.2% water, 36.5lb muscle. Need to get back below 140 to start. Every day is a step! We've been bringing ice cream into the house for when my son visits and then I end up eating it. Time to stop that cycle smile.

My New Year's Day starting weight: 149.6lb, 24.1% fat, 50.9% water, 35.0lb muscle. Every day's an opportunity to improve! Wherever you are, map out a path to where you want to be.
Posted By: Lisa LowCarb Re: Weekly Monday Weigh-In - 07/27/18 01:55 AM
I have a new scale now which automatically sends my weight, fat percentage, water percentage, and all the rest right to my online account. It makes tracking my weight very easy!

Today I'm 149.5lb - the weight has been creeping up when I stopped doing my daily yoga. It's time to find time to do that again.

It's definitely important to track your weight every week and not just the pounds but also the percent fat, percent water, and percent muscles. The amount of muscle you have is critical to your overall healthy.
