On June 24th, 2015, the Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously to approve the building of an Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on the site of Wilshire Blvd. and Fairfax Ave.
Groundbreaking is set for the fall of 2015. The design of the museum, by architect Renzo Piano, features 6 floors of exhibition spaces, special event spaces, a cafe, a store, and a movie theater with terrace. The project is expected to cost $300 million.
