How do you connect with researchers who share common families with you? Do you rely on Facebook, forums, mail lists (yahoo-type), Ancestry?

Over the years I have set up forums for my family names hoping to entice family members to join in and discuss the family lines but most preferred mail lists. We used e-groups which morphed into yahoo groups. Yahoo has made a huge change in the way it will work in the future and some have migrated to groups.io. I do not care for Facebook for genealogy except to find people. Most on Ancestry and other sites like that don't do research and are only interested in creating trees quickly. There is a lot of work that goes into creating an accurate family tree.

I received information from a fellow researcher on WikiTree. He gave me links for researching comune records in Italy. Researchers perform random acts of genealogical kindness. Reach out and assist when you can.
