Not exactly an astronomer but thought I would mention that Gene Cernan passed away today. He was known as the 'last man on the moon.'

Sad, but Apollo is getting to be ancient history now. Still alive are six of the twelve who walked on the Moon, but they're in their eighties. Not just the astronauts, but all who were alive and watching then are getting old too.

Yes, and no new heroes. I miss the excitement of space exploration and now when you hear Mars you figure it is a one-way trip.

This was an interview with Gene Cernan last March when Mark Craig's film The Last Man on the Moon had been released in the USA.

I haven't seen the movie (or DVD), but Mark Craig was invited to European Astrofest 2017 to give a tribute to Gene Cernan.
