Lisa,

I finally tried that stop sign trick (i never thought about it when stressed until now) a few minutes ago when my dad was driving me crazy and it worked!

Wonderful post!

Self-digression comes in many forms and can even lead to what I just call...I'll get it...self-loathing.

A girlfriend and a friend of a boyfriend of mine in college both did things.

One hit their head again against a wall, the other, well went as far as to take their life, but we got him to the hospital in time smile

The stop sign is something that works.

But where I go from here is, why are you angry at yourself?

Seems something that could be rectified and I don't know if this is the right word but a frustration w/a possibly co-dependent relationship w/P's?

I really need a photo to do much more...but LOVE the stop-sign projection/imaging. Over time, it works wonders wink

Elleise,

I tried the stop sign a few times after my comment here and it continued to work.

So far when I hit myself I use my hands and it's mostly on my thighs but sometimes I am so stressed and angry that I hit my head and then too I use my hands. Before I start doing that I start to call myself names. I only started doing these things about one year after moving here. I spent almost my entire life with sadness and stress but it never went that far.

I am mostly frustrated with myself because of what my life has become. To say that it is pathetic would be way too nice to describe my life.

There's still eighteen pictures to be taken with the disposable camera but tomorrow eight will be taken (i want 4 before and 4 after everytime i go get pink dye in my hair...tomorrow is my second appointment) so there will be ten left. I'm sorry it's taking so long!

Nancy -

I am so so pleased that the stop sign is helping out. Visualize it nice and large and red and glowing. It is there to help you. It is your friend.

Whatever it is that is going on, it is temporary. Things will change tomorrow.

I absolutely understand your frustration. You are dealing with a lot! But it is all temporary. It will all go away. You don't have a time machine. You can't undo this current situation. So being upset about being in it only adds stress to your life and doesn't help. I.e. it's not like you can go back in time and "undo" it. So all you can do is start from here and move forward. That's your only choice.

So be compassionate with yourself, and heck, be grateful that things aren't worse. Lots of people out there are dealing with terminal cancer or starving to death or lack of limbs from war wounds. So you're actually in fairly good shape! Be grateful for what you have - a roof, food, and relative safety. Then move from here forward, to make your world better.

You enjoy writing - that is fantastic! This is a great thing to respect about yourself. Someday in the future you will have a wonderful place where you are at peace and can write. Hold that thought in your mind. You are deserving of that writing retreat. You will get there. One step at a time.

Until then, you can nurture yourself and take care of yourself, to be ready for that future.

Lisa,

Right now the stop sign is only working with my dad. My mom is right now in the other living room making me crazy, that stop sign is not working at all (she has been going at it since this breakfast).

She left me a note the other day saying that if they would not go she would give me my 200$ back, today she told me that the only way they won't go is if their friend (where they will stay...our old neighbor) is sick or something else that is bad happened, if she would of explained it like that it would not of brought me so much extra stress and it would not of scared me (a nightmare i had this week is probably due to that note).

When I think of other people who are so much worst than me I feel worst than I did before thinking about it.

If I can have these four days by myself I just know that I'll have the energy that is lacking right now to do something.

A few months ago I was going to buy on Amazon something to learn German but at the last minute I deleted it, there is no way that I can learn a new language in my situation.

It's getting colder here and soon there will be less flies and spiders so I won't have that excuse anymore for not walking.

Next week I'm going to do-over what I did the other night but did it so fast and stressed that I did it wrong, I'll pick a day and time where I will not be stressed (or fully stressed...moments where im not stressed at all are very rare).

I also started watching Tennis again. I only had my Dallas Stars to follow this past year so following Ralfie again (Rafael Nadal) is going to help me too (tonight will be my second match back to the sport...by some miracle it will be live on tv).

It is a little high today, because I'm going on vacation next Tuesday and my work load is a little crazy! I know, however, that it will all be here when I get back AND that others take vacation and are in no particular rush to give me what I need to help them before they leave, so if they are not pressed, I'm de-stressing and planning to enjoy my vacation and not be stressed.

Today has been a stressed day but compared to other days I had it was heaven. My dad I was able to block but not my mom. I have a Tennis match in one hour, if my mom does not cone into the living rooms during the game I will be okay for the rest of the day.

46 days left!
