A juice cleanse doesn't have to be about fruit juices. You can do all veggie juices - that is perfect!

That is great, I'd love to hear how you do! I'm fortunate in that our Blendtec blender self-cleans. So all you do is run some water plus a little dish soap in it for a minute and it's good to go again.

Definitely having fresh homemade juice from fruits, veggies, and berries is a wonderful way to eat healthy and natural!

Yes, Lisa. I use a vitamix for my green smoothies - much easier to clean then the juicer - and you can use the entire fruit/veggie.

But, I also have a juicer and that's what I don't like to clean.

What did you all make this morning?

Apple Juice, Pineapple Juice, Mango Puree, Banana Puree, Kiwi Juice, Spirulina, Chlorella, Vitamin C, Lime Juice, Zinc Sulfate, Broccoli, Green Tea, Spinach, Barley Grass, Wheat Grass, Blue Green Algae, Echinacea Purpurea Extract, Odorless Garlic, Tamarind Puree, Dragon Fruit Juice, Lemon Bioflavanoids, Jerusalem Artichoke and Nova Scotia Dulce.

I'd never be able to get all that in my own homemade smoothie without having to buy all those individual supplements! Does anyone know of a good all-in-one type of additive?

Lori - Interesting! So is that some sort of a pre-made blend that you buy in a supermarket?

For the purpose of a short three day (or one day) juice cleanse I might ignore the additives for now smile No need to add in extra vitamin C or zinc sulfate when you have the goodness of the fresh fruit!

Checking in again with an update:

The juice this morning did not work well for me, a diabetic. It shot up my glucose level so high and fast that I got a major headache. I went out for my walk/run which burned off most of it. No more headache. I thought the fiber would slow down the absorption of glucose in my blood stream but nope.

I could try a straight vegetable juice if I can manage the flavors. I like V8 but there is a lot of sweet carrots in it.

Otherwise, I might just have to resume my better eating program that I began five days ago which is fresh fruit, vegetables and low-fat protein sources.

Oh and yes, the green juice I drank was made by Bolthouse. I really like the idea of adding bluegreen algae, chlorella and spirulina to my diet at least on occasion!

Lori - was it the Bolthouse juice that you had issues with? That does seem to be fairly high in sugary things - pineapple, mango, and so on. So that might not be a good fit for you.

You should try one of the veggie-based shakes that is based on spinach, celery, and broccoli!
