is your betta still in the .5gal tank? if you can afford the money and space a larger tank would be easier to maintain. the ammonia/nitrate/nitrite balances would be far better with fewer water changes necessary and sugarII would live longer and more comfortably. (and you would not feel like you are spending you life cleaning the tank lol)

I was planning on keeping our betta in the .5 gallon. If I get a bigger tank then I'd feel like I should have a filter and other accesories. I don't know if I'm ready to deal with all of that. The funds really aren't there right now too, so I guess that's why I haven't given it much though. He seems to be happy where he is (not saying that he wouldn't be happier in a bigger tank), so he'll be in the little tank for a while longer. np.. just make sure you change the water every few days so the ammonia and nitrates dont collect too much and he should stay happy for you.
