Anna.....I never even thought about the prophetess connection between the two names. You have a point!
Either name is just fine, Phyllis. I like both names, and I know you are all used to Cassie by now. I have chosen not to change my username here on bellaonline. I am comfortable with it just as it is.
Thank you for asking about my horses. They are doing ok. The farm owner has given me a little time to try to get back on track with paying for their feed....but not a lot of time. We are hoping that there will be some progress this month in that regard. I have had communication with a few agencies that deal with horse rescues and sometimes horse owners in need of help to keep their animals. I have filled out some applications that they sent to me.
There are no guarantees, but one or more of these agencies may be able to help with the cost of hay and grain for my horses for a short time. Every little bit is appreciated. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I never asked anyone for help before but I need to do this to keep my horses fed, safe, and in a good home. Maybe a little good karma will come my way when I need it.
When I was married and I had extra money I donated a good amount to a non-profit agency in CA to help save two horses out of Canada by helping with transport costs and vet checks. One was a mare and another was a foal, unrelated horses to each other. These horses were the result of shut down PMU farms (farms where the ingredient for female hormone replacement drug Premarin was gathered). These horses would have been in danger of going to slaughter, and they were among many others in the same predicament. Both horses were brought into the states and given good homes, and the agency itself with the help of donations saved hundreds of horses. I almost adopted the mare myself, and even though I don't have her now I know she has a great home.
Both of my horses are registered. I have a palomino colored (deep golden tan with cream colored mane and tail) Morgan mare, and she is 21 years old. Very healthy for her age with lots of energy. She is the old-type Morgan....sturdy, stocky, strong, and dependable. A safe mount for just about anyone.
My younger mare is a Paint. She is nicely colored in big spots, much like some Indian horses are. She is a seal bay (dark brown) with large white markings. She is 8 yrs old. She still needs more miles on her but she is coming along nicely in her training and some kids can ride her.
Both horses are very sweet to people, and horses in general seem to love kids. I would love to see wild horses some day. How lucky you are Phyllis to be able to see them. I live in the wrong part of the country for that.
