Your discussion on the woods really grasps hold of my heart. I am a Nature Child also. I love the desert, the ocean and coastline, all of nature. The woods are a special place where I feel safe and cozy.

The faery folk, Dryads and others, live in the woods.

i love thunder too, rain and tempests, the air is filled with energy and it cradles me to sleep...riding the lightening!
i lived in the woods for a few months on my own and it was really something i wanted to do since a long time.its very soothing and helps you to open to yourself.
the best thing is to lose yourself in them and losing all sense of where you are, that s when your nature really starts to kick in.i also felt that my spirit felt sexually alive!
the most awesome thing ishow it awakens your creativity your imagination and your artistic side, and going playing with a guitar in the woods is the most awesome thing i ve ever done cause it is so inspiring and then you end up playing with them and the wind and the sounds of the forest.
but there s also another song that helped me face the darkness and i love it when i was really down.it s a kind of depressing song but beautiful and necessary like a rite de passage where i d feel like completly mesmerized.it also makes you aware that the darkness or melancholy are natural things that need to be loved in yourself to proceed further.
it s SOURCES TO AGONIES BY LIMBONIC ART

Through the mirror of the soul
I'm staring deep within
To see what dwell behind the wall
The beauty of pale skin

The aura that surrounds me
Is not of noble kind
The blackness of the heart
Is all that's left to find

A dark river runs silent through my life
Like a floating nemesis
A dark shadow of what i used to be
Drift's now in lifeless misery

Live only to witness what I've become
Midnight is my shallow home
Soon to enter the last deed of mine
I'm forced to follow the streaming bloodline

When the wine of life is shed
And dark cosmic space consume
I bring the memories back from the dead
Sources to agonies, a devouring monsoon

i think there s beauty in all things even darkness and melancholy.darkness isn t always dirty.

"the darkness or melancholy are natural things that need to be loved in yourself to proceed further."

This is a very thoughtful and important thing to realize, gemineye. Very insightful.

It made me remember that years ago, when I was really depressed for a long period, one of the things that helped me was to listen to a melancholy song or read melancholy poetry. The reason it helped me is that it would make me cry -- by crying, I was able to get in touch with my own deep feelings and confront the darkness.

Many of the poetry or prose I write for another site is melancholy and people seem to really like that. It makes them cry, too, and helps them in their own way. It also helps me to pull any sadness out of me and face it, because I write it down.

Another song that touches my spirit and blows away my ego is a very old spiritual song:

Wayfaring Stranger

I am a poor wayfaring stranger
Traveling thru this world of woe
There is no darkness, toil or danger
in that bright world to which I go

I'm going there to see my father
I'm going there no more to roam
I'm only going over Jordan
Only going over home

I know dark clouds will gather round me
I know my way through rough and steep
Yet fields of beauty lie just before me
Where God's redeemed their vigils keep

I'm going there to see my mother
She said she'd meet me when I go
I'm only going over Jordan
Only going over home

The melody to this song is very beautiful and peaceful.

I have never looked at it that way, Gemineye. That is very insightful and makes much sense to me now that you mention it. Well, now there is a new and special meaning for me in that song. Thank you.

In Perfect Harmony Lyrics
Artist(Band):Within Temptation

In a world so far away
At the end of a closing day
A little child was born and raised
Deep in the forest on a hidden place
Mother never saw his face

Ancient spirits of the forest
Made him king of elves and trees
He was the only human being
Who lived in harmony
In perfect harmony

Ancient spirits of the forest
Made him king of elves and trees
He was the only human being
Who lived in harmony
In perfect harmony
The woods protected, fulfilled his needs

Fruit by birds, honey by bees

He found shelter under the trees
He grew up in their company
They became his family

Ancient spirits of the forest
Made him king of elves and trees
He was the only human being
Who lived in harmony
In perfect harmony

Ancient spirits of the forest
Made him king of elves and trees
He was the only human being
Who lived in harmony
In perfect harmony

A thousand seasons
They passed him by
So many times, have said goodbye
And when the spirits called out his name
To join forever, forever to stay
A forest spirit he became

This is what the ancient tribes of America, the First Peoples of America strived to do -- to live in harmony and balance with all Creation.
