One thing you can do, is donate to a local thrift store. Specifically, if that thrift store supports children. When I lived in Virginia, the local childrens' hospital, King's Daughters, has several thrift stores that support their mission.

www.stuffedanimalsforemergencies.org. They have chapters in several states. You can send your donation to the chapter representative nearest to you. Your donation will help a child who has needs an uplift during a time of crisis.
