I tried out a new yoga class today at a new yoga studio. This was a gentle yoga class, very slow and relaxing. It was a full hour.

I enjoyed the class a lot - I was the only person there today so I got personal help with my poses, which I definitely need. I appreciate those personal helps.

Interestingly when I got home I still wanted to do yoga because I missed some of my favorite poses. For example we didn't do tree pose in class, and I enjoy tree pose, so I did it on the back porch when I got home.

We also didn't do any swan movements and I like those. It's interesting how I become fond of certain things.

Do you find that?

I've been back for a second class and while she does move slowly and gently, she ramped up the strength aspect of it, I think realizing I could handle the pressure. So we held several positions which strained (in a good way) my legs and arms.

So that's good, it means each class is helping me in a different way.

I think I would enjoy a class like that. I've been going to the same class with the same instructor for couple years and would like to change things up, I think.

Luckily, our city has 3 YMCAs and all have yoga so I can go to another class at a different one, if I want to. I've been finding it hard to get motivated to go to class so may be time to switch for a while, at least.

I went to a class our instructor had at her home last year with only 8-10 students. The personal instruction was great and very helpful.

Dear HealthyMom62 -

It's interesting that you say "only" with 10 students. To me that is a lot! That's the most that my weekly class ever tends to have. In the quiet class it's only ever been me - she's just getting started.

How big is your class typically?
