Hi Steven.

Last summer I watched a movie on TV that really gave me nightmares. I did not see it from the beginning and had never seen it before, so I do not know the title.

A young woman, who had lost her mother at an early age, was beginning to have dreams and a sense that something was haunting her. Her father would never discuss the mother with his daughter and she felt she needed to know the truth about how and why her mother had died.

This woman had a grandmother who lived in a rest home. The grandmother eventually told her the truth and the curse that was on the family, just on the women. I missed several scenes of the movie and the father was not in the last part of the movie, so must have been killed by this demon that was haunting the young woman. A friend of the woman's was also killed by this demon.

The grandmother told her that when she (grandmother) was young she had a twin brother. They were in a concentration camp and the doctors there did horrible experiments on the twins. The doctor wanted to test on the eyes of the twins for something. The brother died from the experiments but came back three days later. The doctor said the brother had not died. The grandmother said that after three days she knew that 'boy' was not her twin, that it was something evil.

When the young woman's mother had been pregnant with twins the demon killed the boy baby and I think the mother committed suicide. Now the demon was after the young woman.

The young woman (see - I cannot even remember the names of the characters) in seeking help found a priest who knew some ancient texts that told about the type of demon her grandmother told her about. YW had gone to the library and found the ancient text and took it to the priest. After first denying to help, the priest decided to help.

The demon went after the grandmother because she had told the girl the truth. The demon would take the appearance of the grandmothers twin as a young boy. An old man in a wheelchair at the rest home fell down the stairs and when the grandmother started down to help him, the old man started slowly climbing the stairs on all fours, like a dog, and his head was turned backwards - just like a demon of a dog looked in the old text book. The grandmother ran down a hall and hid in a closet. Behind her was that little demon boy and he killed her.

I could go on and on, but maybe I have given you or someone else enough of the plot to remember the title? I do not want to see the movie again for it kept me awake for several nights. I sat up in bed and kept the lights on all night.

I would just like to know the name of the movie so if anyone ever asks have I seen it, I can tell them what I thought about it. It was a very intense horror that kept me watching even though I was spooked over it.

It was the kind of movie that scares me the most -- an unseen evil (which is what it was till towards the end of the movie).

I don't know the title of that film, but I suggest you avoid watching "Night of the Demon" too as the last shot of the really bad s/f 'demon' is about the only non-tension bit in it.

Hi Donna. That is the movie I saw. Thanks for the title. I thought it was well cast, and I like the story line. What creeped me out so much was the old man climbing the stairs with his head twisted around. Thanks for the title.

It really is a good movie, I think. Steven is a good movie critic and writes great reviews.

There are two versions of this film one made in 2003 and one 2009. I saw the original so I am going to download the newer version to see if it lives up to its creepiness.

Yes Stephen is brilliant, if I am bored and want to watch a film (horror being my favorite genre) I go to Stephen's site and hey presto... entertainment!

laugh Silly girl... smile Yes, basically I did like it. I thought the casting was very good, the plot was good - I just kept seeing that creepy old man climbing up the stairs every time I turned the lights out. I kept looking behind me to see if he was following me. eek For the longest time, I had to sit or lay with my back to a wall -- I even pushed my bed against the wall.

LOL Phyllis, when I was a child I could never sleep with my face to the wall. Once we lived in such a creepy house I would not put my feet out of the bed in case something grabbed me and pulled me under! All this because I am a horror film freak!
