Started working for Lance Corporation here in Columbus, Georgia through Westaff Temporary Work Agency in their bakery on the production line. This assignment is a "day to day" set up, so I am not sure how long I will be there. Right now I am doing the 11pm to 7am shift, thank goodness for that. My boyfriend uses the car for his job which does not start until 10am at the earliest, and ends no later than 9pm. I have to leave home by 10pm to avoid being stuck in traffic or some train. I don't know how these train companies do this! They will leave the train "sitting" blocking traffic(lol). So far I worked Monday thru Saturday and should have been there last night(Sunday) but they canceled the shift at the last minute due to machines being down again. That would have been day #7 for me = yippee, some serious overtime! Apparently they have been working without days off since April and 4 or 5 of their product lines got moved to another location due to being so behind. I am on call today(Monday-Memorial Day) in case the line goes back up.

Anyone working or worked for Lance Corporation?

And for those folks that are not familiar with them, they make cookies - slimfast and so on. Very BUSY business indeed. Using 100's of Westaff temps DAILY for their 3 shifts. 7am to 3pm, 3pm to 11pm and 11pm to 7am. The 11pm to 7am just started up.

***If you need some income, check out BOTH Westaff and Lance as they do "direct" hire and will be introducing a NEW product line in August of this year***

Good for you Angela. At age 52, you certainly do not sit around and WAIT for life to happen :) Be sure to keep us posted on your "job" adventures(lol).

Thank you unemployed and I have to REMIND myself how lucky I am to have it when I get "sleepy" at 2am(lol). But I am wide awake like now at 11:26am. I think the "boredom" of doing the same thing all of my shift is what is making me sleepy. I have always like to switch up stuff.

So how are your legs, lower back and sleep doing? I feel for you as I know I would be in the exact same condition if I had to be on my feet 8 hours every day or night with just three 15-minute breaks. That gives you about 5 minutes to sit(lol). Takes about 5 minutes to walk to and from your work station, another 5 to get to the ladies room and pray for an open one.

LOL unemployed, had a migraine all of my shift last night and came home and got in bed. Usually try to do some online stuff before hitting the bed at 2pm to sleep until 8pm. Finally had my boyfriend hunt down some painkiller as I don't remember when we last used it and with moving, you guessed it, hard to find stuff.

Well he found it and I took 2 pills and finally was able to sleep after laying there for about an hour of not being able to.

But I did have some fun today working with Professor Blalock at the Columbus State University. Helped her out 3pm to 5pm today before heading back home on the city bus. Doing it again tomorrow. Leaving Fridays open for payday, yep, a weekly paycheck and have to run errands. But helping her out for 4 days a "volunteer" has added something to my life. I hope to get a job there when the "hiring" freeze is over.

Talk later smile
