My sides hurt from laughing! I've lived it! You let us see into that lovely fun world of mud! Have you ever noticed how`close the words muck and mud are? I don't think it's a coincidence.

Oh and your latest article, Horses in Summer so horribly true! How do you stop a nearly 18 hand Percheron cross from playing ballerina over a fly net when you're only 5 ft?! He's given me sciatica!

And just what's the idea that the 2 lightest colored horses in the barn are the first to lead the others in rolling?! Why? My boot is still in the far right paddock-I gave up. I'll grab it tomorrow!

Thought it was ironic, but I put up a pic of Tex as my ava after his roll, earlier today! Yes, he sticks out his tongue at me all the time and has such a great sense of humor.

Thanks great-grandaughter. Tex looks a great deal like my old appy - Comanche. He was my first horse and lived to be 39. We had many great adventures together. I hope you and Tex are able to share many adventures as well - he looks like a wonderful character.

Comanche? great name! I'd love to hear more about him if it's not too painful. We have Cherokee as our little retired Cob and he's got the BEST manners of any equine I've ever met! His only bad habit is to drop a shoulder under a teen who thinks they can ride sloppy on him, lol.

I had a POA that had that little trick down as well - his name was Chipster Magoo - he gave all of his riders everything they had as long as they stayed out of his mouth. He lived to 33.

I miss all of my horses that are no longer here on the earth but I relish their memories. Those that have passed comprise a long list - I was blessed with each and everyone. You can read about them, briefly in several articles which I have linked. There is an ammendment - I lost Duchess last year - she was in end stage liver failure and colicked without relief so we put her down. They are all buried on my property.

My condolences on your losses, but thank you for the good cry Susan--beautiful article about beautiful, noble creatures! Luke reminds me of Moonie and Duchess (bless her sweet heart) reminds me of Lucy! It must've been very difficult to write your memories like that. I wish I could hug you! You're a good horsewoman and I just know that Luke and Prince adore every moment you share with them!
