I'm not sure where to post it, but I have a couple things I wanted to ask about.
1. I use Desitin on Jazzy and Tex's noses and ears for sunblock because otherwise they get burned. They both hate the smell but I'm not sure what else to use. Any suggestions?

2. Moonie is notorious for crapping in his auto waterer and I worry he'll not have the water when he needs it most. It's brutal today, yesterday and for the next 4 days. We don't want to chance colic so me and the boss keep checking on his waterer about 4 times a day not counting first in the morning and last at night. The perverse thing about it is sometimes he'll poop in it, and sometimes he'll go days without doing it!

You can post your questions here or you can email me - there is a contact bar on the right side of all of the articles.

I am not a fan of automatic watering systems - I like to know exactly how much my horses drink each day. I really don't know what to suggest - if it is set up so this would work consider mounting some sort of blockade that would allow him to reach in for a drink but not back up to it to poop in that spot - this would probably work only if the waterer was in the corner. If it were me I would opt for a bucket placed elsewhere - especially if you are worried during a heat wave.

There are many new products out there with zinc oxide or even better titanium oxide. I only use cruelty-free products - Alba and Burts Bees have good products that I use on my pink-nosed beasties.

Thank you Susan. I'll definitely try your suggestions.
