Hi Jordan
I am looking into buying a small quilting business in our town. My husband and I have run our own bookshop/coffee shop and we currently own a pizza bar with our son (who works and manages it). I am a bookkeeper and work as internal accountant for a hardware store. I have quite a lot of financial experience and a degree in Internet studies, marketing and IT. I am also a trained dressmaker and have tried most of the crafts as a hobby over the years (including quilting).
What I would like to know is what you think I should be looking for in this business to ensure it is a good proposition?
www.kirkbridgequilting.com.au is the store I'm looking at.
For instance What should GP be? What staff ratio to turnover? Is quilting a hobby going in or out of fashion? What should netprofit be? Any ideas as to what the turnover should be for a small store?
