This is cold and flu season and I wanted to give you some helpful tips for you and your daughter for both the school and your workplace:
The Dos and Donts for school and workplace prevention: Try to avoid touching many things in your house or physical contact with other family members to prevent from the spread of germs. Do not send your daughter to school because she could infect other children. Do not borrow crayons or pencils Make sure your child has compact tissue to take to school daily Make sure community toys are cleaned daily Send your child to school with mechanical pencils (because sometimes the dirtiest spot in the classroom can be the community pencil sharpener) Do not put hands or fingers in mouth or nose Supply your office with plenty of sanitizer and tissue throughout the workplace. Encourage hand-washing techniques in restrooms and break areas. Eat plenty of food, drink plenty of fluids, and get plenty of sleep or rest
If school and work officials would take the time to do the extra task of wiping down commonly used surfaces, in the classroom and workplace, this will cut down on the spread of germs worldwide. It is an extra task, but if we all pull together during cold and flu season, we can stay healthier longer.

WOW! I actually printed out your post. It never even occurred to me to have her avoid the pencil sharpener. My daughter just started Kindergarten and it seems she is sick all the time! Thank you!

This is great advice! I have one girl and two boys and times being a middle child it becomes increasingly tough to make her understand that personal hygiene for her is more important than for the boys. She is however very attentive and is willing to learn i will definitely use your tips.www.girlchildkenya.wordpress.com

Twinmommd - When my daughter was in preschool - she went to a daycare located in this one particular church. She was sick every week. About the third visit to the emergency room and after seeing another mom there whose child went to the same daycare - we decided to move her. Granted you can't do that once they get in school, but this is an excellent topic with great ideas to try and keep them well.
