Hello, my name is Leslie, and I recently decided to become Wiccan. I was raised Lutheran, so much about the Wiccan lifestyle has been hidden from me, or worse, portrayed as evil. I have always felt like I needed something more than what I was getting, spiritually speaking, in the conventional churches I have always attended. I was just wondering if anyone here might have some tips or advice or anything for a brand new Witch. Thanks, Leslie

My experience is, if it helps, is that there is something more than organized/secular religion.

For me, my family is Catholic (parents). So I went to church every Sunday, Weds. sang in the Choir, took CCD, and went to Catholic middle school and highschool.

There is nothing against group energy in faith and directed as long as it is, in my opinion, free of will.

When a will questions whether there is something more, it should be free to advance in the experience. However, my personal advice is not to jump right away into taking a role or deeming yourself something.

The Wiccan religion is a beautiful one and as such my feeling is you'll find informative and open/natural people wo9riki9g with the elements who can offer much information as to what the religion consists of and where you might feel your calli8ng is smile

One book that helped me was "Simple Wicca" by Michele Morgan. There is a paragraph in there that states "God doesn't care what you call him as long as you call him". A lot of great information is in the book such as the holidays, the Gods and Goddesses as well as some of the paths you could walk. Like the books title, it is explained very simply.

That's interesting- my first book that I had read years back was Wicca/Pagan for Dummies. I found it to give a lot of wonderful information and it really was helpful.

If it helps I am a teacher and the book I use with my neophytes is " An Idiots guide to Wicca and Witchcraft." It is informative and easy to understand.

My first book for the Wiccan path was Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner. All of Cunningham's book are excellent references. In fact the first ritual I ever performed was from his book.

Im new to this too so dont feel like your alone with being a newbie. I was raised in a very strict Christian house and I never felt like I belonged. When I found out about Wicca from a friend, I was thrilled. I wish you all the happiness in the world, ma'am.
