HA HA!!! Really? The biggest hurdle to my eating healthy is that I love to eat - and when I'm stressed, I eat. When I'm frustrated, I eat. When I'm happy, bored, tired,I eat.

My biggest hurdle is time and the cost of the healthier foods with a family of 5.

Chocolate!!! I have a community of sweet teeth, so desserts are a definite weakness.

I do think I eat healthy most of the time, though.

Stress eating is one of the biggest challenges many of us face! Absolutely we get trained to eat as a "quick fix" - which never actually fixes the problem, and causes problems with our weight.

I have an article on

Cortisol and Stress Fat

showing just how insidious this situation is.

I'll start a new thread on the topic - this is definitely one we want to talk about!

For time, take a look at our quick-and-healthy cookbook -

Free Quick No-Cook Recipes

Let us know what other ideas you have to add to that book!

Cost is a separate issue - I'll start a thread on that!

Melissa -

There are two parts to this.

First, there are a TON of low carb / sugar free chocolates out there that taste absolutely like "sugar filled chocolate". They have made huge strides in the world of sugar-free candy and chocolate. There is no reason at all to have to eat sugary chocolate. The sugar-free variety is great.

Here's a whole page of reviews -

Sugar-Free Chocolate Reviews

Second, it is important over time to wean yourself off of a sweet tooth. This is so important for many reasons. If you train yourself to "mindlessly" eat sweet things every day after a meal - whether you really want them or not - this is bad enough when you're home and can find a low calorie solution, but it creates an awful situation when you're out of the house and resort to something that is full of gigantic calories.

So yes certainly every once in a while enjoy some sugar-free chocolate, to get the chocolate flavor into your overall menu. But try to wean yourself off of chocolate as a "given" every night. Convert over to berries, or a nice cheese plate.

Awww.... very good article Lisa! I can definitely see how being stressed is something we want to get under control if we want to release some of that extra fat LOL!

I love cheese as a treat! I have never been a huge sweets fan. Except for cookie dough. Something about the texture that is comforting. Which must be why I love Brie.

Cheeses can be quite expensive these days. Any advice on cheese buying? Suck it up and pay?

HA HA... yes, cheese is a bit pricey. I try to watch for specials at the grocery store but mostly yes, I suck it up and pay LOL!

Of course, something to think on... A bag of chips is like $4.99, right? A pound of amazing cheese might be $7.99. A bag of chips - for an emotional eater - could be gone in two sittings. The cheese would last much longer.

Cheese: Walmart Superstores or Target grocery....Aldi's or Hannaford are also good choices if they have cheese. Possibly Kroger's.

I love Colby Jack, Swiss or Havarti. Usually the colby jack os the cheaper.
