I hadn't thought about the food possibility of the geese! Good point. What a great source of meat and eggs. Why doesn't the government look into that, instead of wasting a valuable resource?

Sometimes I think wasting resources is what we do best.

Well, on the other hand, these geese have been roaming around wild, they could have serious diseases. So if we then fed them to people and they all got sick, that wouldn't be good. We have incredible tracking and restrictions on cows in the system, so it wouldn't be good if we just grabbed bunch of wild animals eating who knows what and feeding them to our infirmed and elderly people. So I do see that side of it.

Call me cynical, but somehow I doubt that is why.

We have an overabundance of geese here. The flock will decide to cross the street and the traffic stops while they do so. We're talking about a major four lane highway with turn lanes. An over abundance means they are living in an area that doesn't support them well; there is not enough food for them; they are breeding like crazy. There is no hunting season. Hunting is generally what diminishes the flock to keep it manageable. It is almost like the deer here. Way too many, no hunting, sick and emaciated deer herds in the neighborhoods.
