I always get a little home sick when you guys talk about pow wows. But it also brings back those wonderful memories too. Have fun.

Hey Flower, November will be here in no time. Have you checked the website of the US base near you to see if they have the Calendar of Events updated for November? I so hope there will be an activity for Native American month you can attend.

The military is consistent with providing contact information for whoever is in charge. If you find something on the calendar, don't be afraid to email or call for the specifics. If base access is restricted, I'm sure you can get a visitor's pass for a specific event. Get your name on the list and show your photo ID at the gate. The security guys are really good at providing directions to an event on base. Don't be afraid to ask for a pass.

Please let us know if you find something you can attend.

Cherokee of Georgia Fall Pow-wow St. George, GA
This year is the 30th Anniversary and I can't wait!
Thursday October 7th through Saturday October 9th.
Free Admission, Parking and Tent Spots.
Electric/Water hookups are limited, but inexpensive. I think it was only $15 in April and expect about the same.

I'm hoping we'll be able to get there the prior weekend, depends on the house sitter. The more time on that sacred ground, the better for me. With my daughter's wedding only 1 month later, I'll need all the positive energy I can get!

If you'll be in the North Florida or South Georgia area that weekend, this is a great little gathering. For directions, here's the website

cherokeeofgeorgia.us

Sorry, Not a link. Add the www.

I actually forgot till i seen this post. Im going to check, last time i got scared when i tried to find info about the military post where something may be going on with the powwow, there was a security thing there and i got scared not that they think im a terrorist. I know its silly but things like that scare me.

Dealing with the military can be intimidating at times. I completely understand. If you can find a website for the base, check for Event calendars, or any links to Public Relations or something that sounds like Equal Opportunity Advisory Committee. That's the name used on our base and someone in that office would probably know of special heritage events. Also look under Recreation.

If you can't find anything, send me a private message with the name of the base closest to you and I'll see if we can find anything. My husband is really good hunting down information within the military system, it's part of his job.

Youtube has a video of the Grand Entry Thunder Nation Powwow in Berlin, Germany. It was in 2006, but maybe you can get more information on that.

Type in: youtube+Grand Entry Thunder Nation Powwow in Berlin, Germany

and that should take you to the video. It is exciting to watch. Germany is a "warrior country", so they love powwows. Once you find that video, there will be several others listed on the right side that you can view and maybe get info from.

Hi Flower. she may not have picked it up yet. It will be just sitting in her PM file till she opens it and responds back to you. You will get a little "flashing envelope" next to your "My Stuff" tab when you have a PM from her.
