First, get rid of the clutter. Too much stuff results in chaotic chi, and keeps you from feeling peaceful and serene.

Then, add some images of water near your front door to help everything flow gently into your home.

Feng Shui is the art and science of placing things around you in your home and workplace to attract positive things into your life, especially wealth, harmony, and love. You can read more in this article, and in other articles, on the BellaOnline Feng Shui site:

Definitely clutter is a big issue for me. I am diligently working on that but have to do better. I am slowly getting there.

I did do the water images by the front door - the two photos hanging there are of a cool fish in the water, and also of a tree in the water -

That tree is near where my great aunt lives, and it's a fond memory. I've had several people comment that they liked the photo as they came or went, so it's being noticed!

Lisa, I get this question a lot these days, since we are living in a very complex world. The first thing to do is to clear the clutter around you. Clutter represents postponed decisions and the inability to move forward, so when you are surrounded by things you don't need, want, or love, it's hard to relax.

My parents are Chinese and very much into the feng shui principles. One of the things they've instilled in me is to keep my space clean and airy. This means no dust, as it's the number one chi-killer. Also, as eyes are the windows to the soul, windows are the eyes to the home. Feng shui principles state that to have a clear head and mind, keep the windows clear and clean. Let lots of natural light in during the day but keep them closed at night, as this may affect your chi. Choose feng-shui friendly window blinds or shades (a good one that I have is Levolor, which let lots of light in without sacrificing privacy), but try to stay away from drapes as they tend to collect a lot of dust and allergens.

Great suggestions! Clean windows are important at work, too. I recommend to my clients that they clean their office windows occasionally, to assure they have a clear view of their career prospects.
