I love Japanese foods. One of my favorites is crab rolls with cream cheese. I also love shrimp tempura!

Years ago, when I was a teenager, my mom took me to the dentist to have a tooth pulled -- then she took me out to lunch because she was starving. I could not eat a thing and she felt sorry for me. We were at an international cafeteria type place. She went over to the Japanese kitchen and told the chef I needed something easy to eat. He fixed me the most wonderful soup I have ever tasted. It had a small pieces of chicken, tofu, and vegetables in it, but mostly broth. I do not remember what he called it, but it was so wonderful I still dream about it at times.

Other than lobster, my favorite food is Japanese food. I can live on sushi (real sushi, not Chinese Buffet sushi). It's a shame that authentic quality Japanese food is so expensive. I cook all Asian food, but for people who never had it....it's hard to know if your recreation is sucessful unless you know what to expect. I'm always trying to perfect my tempura.

It is expensive. The cost of living in Japan is quite high, partially due to the fact that most Japanese earn high salaries and have plenty of disposable income. And when you factor in the overseas transportation costs for food products to get to us abroad, costs skyrocket!

I, too, am always trying to perfect my tempura.

How about some recipes that don't include seafood ingredients? That is my biggest barrier to chinese/japanese food. I'm allergic to shell fish!
