1. I love Poptarts.

2. My rant wasn't out to stereotype anyone. I don't know anything about those people, or what their day to day lives are like. All I know is their toddler was running wild in the store. It annoyed me.

3. I agree that working vs. not working parents don't have anything to do with it. Both can be lazy. My mom was a single mom with 4 kids, me being the last of the bunch. I remember being super little and going to stores with all us kids in tow. We played "The Duckling Game," as she called it. She was the momma duck, and we were the babies who had to "follow in line" right behind her. If anyone fell out of line, the other "ducklings" surrounded that duck and put him/her in the front of the line right behind the momma duck.

THAT'S called parenting. Keeping all your ducks in a row. My mom was/is an epic mom.

misstalia, i read your post and cringed, but not because you wrote it. But because that kind of reality seems to be everywhere and I haev no idea why ANYONE in their right minds would get themselves through that kind of never ending horror. it's like indentured servitude to children.

I cannot understand why any intelligent person would willingly put themselves through that.

Jilly, I'm glad someone else sees it as I have. It isn't like I've made this up as I am friends with some working moms and some stay at home moms as well.... the things I posted are basically their exact description of their lives!

It is my opinion that f/t working parents are part of the CAUSE for the rude annoying kids. of course there are stay at home moms who can be abusive or negligent...I am generalizing. Just to balance it out though, last night I was at a gathering and a friend of mine with 2 kids who is a part time worker and home with her children during the day mentioned how she's up 2hrs earlier than she'd like to awaken because of her kids and is unable to do any of the things she enjoys because of constant interruption from her kids. She also said that she "Can't wait to get to her job on the nights she works because at home her life is reduced to "Sh** diapers and ham sandwiches. I can't imagine that lifestyle either!

I'm glad at least that my post didn't offend you smirk. I guess maybe it expressed an "Us against them" mentality between adult children of stay at home moms and those of working parents. I still stand by my opinion, although I know it doesn't apply to EVERYONE. There's no doubt though that my post was met with bitterness by some because I mentioned something that rings true in every household with that lifestyle, The fact that kids of FT working (both parents or single moms)have much less time and attention from parents that those who were raised by stay at homes...it's just a fact: they have an extra 8-10 hours per day with their kids that many other kids have spent with daycare workers. P.S. How do you like living in AZ?

I think even the best behaved children are never-ending work. not that there is anything wring with the kids, but that being a care taker on purpose, for free, does not sound easy or fun. I know I am missing the gene that says it's supposed to be fun. But it doesn't look like fun.

Not bitterness at your opinion just the tendency to generalize in a situation that really is not lend itself to standard generalization. It's that whole "rings true in every household" statement.

Recently, I was in a store and a child was in my way in the middle of the isle. The mother told the child "get out of the way, you're not the only one in the store." I was in shock! A parent actually teaching her child courtesy!
