haha, that was classic! As they say, opinions are like ~!@#$%^&. As I have posted before prevention is the best method in terms of stopping people in their tracks before they try to force feed you their opinions on having children. A quick, " My husband and I prefer to keep such personal matters between the two of us, unless that is your intention was to birth and raise the child that your speaking of...and then laugh." Yep, that shuts them right up!

OMG.....for most of these phrases if I haven't had them said to me then I have heard of them.

One phrase worth mentioning is I-21......smart people need to pass on their genes. My ex-husband wants to have kids to impart his "great knowledge" and "experience" to his offspring. Is he going to pass on his immaturity, insecurity, and mental instability to them as well? How about his self-centered "it's all about me" attitude?

Ok....this has turned into a rant. But just as there are these nonsense phrases which we as CF people have to be subjected to, a lot of people's reasons for having kids are also total nonsense.

You forgot, "What about adoption?/ You could at least adopt a child."

I guess they think carrying a pregnancy or childbirth is the biggest fear for most of us? I don't know. I just reply back, "I don't even want my own kids, what the H%*l would I want with somebody else's?"

The rotten thing is that people say this to ANYONE without children whether it was by choice or not. I didn't choose to be childfree, and when I was still married and still trying to have a child, I heard so many of these. People make assumptions all the time, and they don't care who gets hurt.

BTW, the one about the human race will die out has me wondering. Is that really a bad thing? If the human race died out, we would have no more oil spills, no more war, no more nuclear weapons, no more pollution, etc. So maybe that's a good thing. Ya think?

Thanks Everyone! I know that it did not cover all of the bases and that is why I posted it. I wanted to know others viewpoints.

Dolyn, physical rejection had a lot of weight in my not wanting children, and I also got the adoption question several times (which way the way, I answered just like you), BUT I have also had people not really believing me, insinuating there must be a more serious deeper reason (don't know what can be serious that your whole body crying against it!) I guess they meant to say I had immaturity issues or that I was mentally disturbed at some level.
If you say you don't want children for whatever reason, people will try to figure you out as a freak no matter what you say.
