Kat, yes, it's parenting. I like how you put it too. It drives me nuts when I see people talking about how much they think they should be paid for raising their children. I've said it before, and I'll say it again..... It's not a job -- It's your responsibility. Sheez. I don't recall hearing my granny complain about being a mother. She looked at it like it was just part of life. Fortunately, it was a part she enjoyed, lol. My other grandmother didn't seem to feel that way, lol.

What bugs me, is that even though I dont have any kids, i pay for thousands of the little treasures though my taxes, parents here in the UK get benefits for everything & anything, and they always feel hard done by. I have to swollow hard when me friend does flexie time so she can drop off and pick up the little kiddies from nursery. I actually used to work with someone who spent most of her day arranging child care and different outings- I complained to the bosses and they seemed to think that was fine even though they could hear it happening - grrrrr There is a story in the news at the moment that because of overspending the government are stopping the budget for schools to be repaired, there is an outcry and its on the news all day everyday with all parents thinking it is a life threating policy that has been pulled, seriosuly the amonut of airtime and public outcry over this amazes me, why should I pay for school repairs? I dont use schools, if things need reparing why dont they fundraise and sort it themselves, they are also stopping many other services like specialist care for the elderley and people with disabilities but no one comments on those topics, they are more important than a lick of paint. Also why do parents think we get in their kids way when they are charging about, I got knocked over by a kid who thought it is god given right to push me out of the way, I spoke to the mother and she smiled and said I was in the way - I mean come on, he actually pushed me - he wasnt small either, prob 8-10ish (im not good with kids ages) My god there is actually alot more I could rant about, but i'm winding myself up - Breathe Helen teeheee

Helen, I am with you on the tax thing. I hate that my taxes go to services for children and their families. Services that I will never use but still have to pay for. I heard in the U.S. that you can get some tax breaks if your child goes to private school because you are not using the public schools and busing services. No tax breaks for those who don't use those services because they have no kids.

I also hate when my lower income friends get thousands of dollars back on their tax returns even though they didn't even pay half of what they are getting back.
