A story is written one word at a time, one sentence at a time. I'm going to give you a sentence, just one sentence. I would like each one of you to add a sentence until the story is complete. There is no specific genre the story is required to be. This is just for fun. I would like to see how much sense the story makes when it comes to its logical, or illogical, conclusion.

This should probably be a short story, a very short story. So after about 50 sentences have been added, I'll bring it to its conclusion with a closing sentence. If you all have enough fun, we'll do more of these.

Here is my sentence: The sound of the balcony doors shattering abruptly drew me out of what had been a deep and peaceful sleep.

Remember, this is all in fun. No cursing, and add only 1 sentence at a time. Each person is definitely allowed to participate more than once.

I sat bolt upright, swivelled my head while searching my brain for a time or place to match the alien bizarre scene converging on my senses.

In the cloud that formed above the rubble, a strange shape emerged.

I couldn't believe my eyes.

It was Vance wearing a silk cap and he looked as if he was in a trance.

"What are you doing here?" I asked?

"I'm not sure."

I rubbed my eyes to ensure I was not dreaming.

Vance's sleepy face fills with confusion as he reaches into the pocket of his robe and pulls out a knife dripping with blood.

Suddenly, thunder crashed and lightning flashed through a window.
