Do you phrase your Twitter posts with long sentences, lots of A and THE and other words like that? So would you say

My new article for my site is about ... (and then the topic)

or do you fill them with key words, more like

Star Wars Movie Review - Wookies were Great but Luke is rather feeble!

I usually try to do the latter -- short & sweet, without much filler. (But if it looks too keyword-y, I'll sometimes intentionally add a filler word just to make it sound human.)

I try not to fill it with filler...but sometimes I forget.
Do you use the "#" sign at the beginning of your tweets. I think its for search purposes.

How many people use Twibe?

I agree Nancy - you want it to be key word rich, but also so it sounds like a human being wrote it smile

I don't use # keywords at all. How some people use them is like this -

Make a wine cork reindeer from a Champagne cork! #wine

So you give a specific keyword that starts with a # sign, and that lets you get found in searches where people are looking for #wine. It's a way to indicate your post is REALLY about wine and that wine isnt' just a random word in the sentence.

I use TweetDeck to manage my posts, I've never used twibe.

Lisa,
I've seen "TweetDeck" on some of the twitter posts. What is "TweetDeck"? It sounds like something I should probably know.

Go here -

TweetDeck

It's an app that sits on your computer and you can easily update multiple accounts at once. So I can update my Facebook and Twitter accounts with just one click.

I use normal language when just updating on my life and not anywhere near the 140 char count. When I know I am getting over the limit, I go back and remove anything extraneous.

Also, if i am posting something I hope will be retweeted, I make things as concise as possible so people will have room for the @ and RT, plus maybe a comment.

I can explain about retweeting if this doesn't make sense to someone. smile

Diane, Tweetdeck is very useful for organizing your categories of followers. It helps clear the noise from your twitter stream. very useful.

the # symbol is for hashtags, a lot of people "follow" certain hashtags, theyre also used for chat purposes (Sunday night #blogchat is my favorite)

Tweetdeck makes it very easy to follow several hashtags and to post/respond from several different twitter user accounts.

I forgot the name of the tool to see how many people are following which hashtag. I don't see the phenomena as one that will last very long. I also see people overusing it. #wine #beverage #drink #alcohol That's a lot of characters to add for no reason.
