My husband and I were sitting in our office on our computers. (The office use to be in our bedroom). I had two pet raccoons (babies) who were playing on the bed behind us. The phone rang and after I answered it I hung up the phone and set it behind me on the bed. A while later I heard something outside. (We lived in the country) I saw a sheriffs car sitting in the drive and two officers walking very cautiously toward the house. We went out to greet them. Both had their hands on their holsters. They looked quite concerned. They explained to us that a 911 call was made from this address. In fact, the party was still on the line but only making strange noises. I thought to myself oh oh. I went inside and sure enough the raccoons had gotten the phone off the hook, somehow dialed 911 and where chirping and chuckling on the line. The officers got quite the belly laugh off of that one. I assured them I wouldnt leave the phone in their reach again.

No, that was a good many years ago. I certainly miss the trouble makers though. We named them Bonnie and Clyde. For good reason. I will have to tell the story of their time out one of these days lol.

I got one that wasn't so funny at the time but it is now. We have a companion skunk. It was winter and really cold during the winter. During the night I woke up really cold and reached for the blanket. That woke my husband up and he was really cold too. The blanket wasn't on the bed so we just figured it fell on the floor. Nope. Over in a corner the skunk was sleeping in a nice cozy curled up blanket. He looked like he was laying in a nest. He had tugged our blanket off the bed. We just went to the closet and got a quilt.

lol I had the exact same thing happen to me except for it was a very big and heavy comforter. The monster brat skunk stole it in the middle of the night.

Ahh, I remembered another funny story. When my daughter was sixteen she had a group of friends over. The house we had did not have a lot of light because of the way the windows were designed. We had a pet skunk that had run of the house. Two teenage boys that were quite tall and pretty much thought they were Gods gift to women were walking down the hall. They ran right into the skunk. My daughters room was a few feet from them. Instead of backtracking to the front door they ran through her room and jumped out the window, knocking the screen out with them. The skunk had such a bemused look on his face. Hopefully that knocked the two dashing boys down a notch or two. [url=http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art8349.asp]Pet Domestic Skunk/url]

Have you ever been desperate enough to smuggle a small animal into a hotel room? A number of years ago I had a batch of baby raccoons. We had to go up to Minnesota from Oklahoma. I brought the babies with me along with their bottles, formula, burp rags, blankets, teething rings, and all the other essentials when traveling with babies. We couldnt find any motels along the way that allowed animals let alone raccoons! I just brought them in as if they were real babies. They had more fun playing under the covers of the extra bed chasing each other. They didnt make any messes, what did happened, I made sure everything was spotless when we left. That was one of those fond memories. When we were going through the badlands the kids began to teeth. I threatened them that the badlands were going to be their permanent home if they didnt settle down lol. That was also when they bit the top off of each nipple. Time to wean

I am not sure how this memory came to surface it happened a long long time ago. When I was in eighth grade, after both my brothers grew up and left home, my parents bought a couple acre farm. They added the surrounding acreage for more animal space. We had some registered Black Angus, a few Barbados sheep, couple of pigs and a this, that and the other thing. But, what I wanted, of course, was a horse.
A friend down the road ran a learning rodeo he had everything from horses to Brahma bulls. He agreed to give me a loaner horse. It was an Appaloosa. As far as farms and animals, we were pretty green. I loved that horse. That was my source of transportation as a teenager. My horse and my friends, plus I end up miles away from home.
I had the horse for quite some time. One day I went up to a friends house lightly placed the reins over the fence and went inside. I looked out and my horse was heading down the driveway. My horse just didnt do stuff like that. I had her pretty well trained. I went after her and caught her. Then hopped on her back and turned her back to my friends house. She whipped her head around and gave me a looks could die look. I figured something was wrong so took her home.
I cooled her down, brushed her, checked out her hooves, and noticed she was getting a bit heavy. I cut back on her grain strange thing was, she didnt eat anything. I threw out some hay and left her alone.
I went up to the house and figured if she still was off her feed by morning Id call the vet before I went to school. The next morning I could hear my Mother screaming from the back pasture. I ran out thinking something had happened to her. She said a little foal had gotten in the field with my horse. I looked and sure enough a little newborn colt was standing next to my horse.
It was her baby. He was a cutie. He had a bit of the devil in him so I called him Stormy to fit his personality and partly named from his mother my best friend and horse Raincloud.
The funny thing was the guy who owned the rodeo had been to the house just the day before. My Dad had bought the horse for me. He gave her a checkup; my Dad got the money, my Dad got the registration papers. So, we ended up with two horses for the cost of one. I ended up raising Appaloosa horses turning the offspring into beautifully spotted English jumping horses. That was a sight to see and it was rare, if ever that Appys were used as English jumping horses.

I had promised to tell the story of my raccoons time out. He was being a little monster. Normally, as far as raccoons go he was usually pretty good. But, when he got out of hand, he would have time outs in his own room. He was literally ripping through the house knocking stuff over, climbing to the top of tall stuff, tossing stuff anyway, you get the picture. So we put him in his room for his time out. He hated time outs, he like loved to be with us involved with everything we did. After about 10-15 minutes we went to let him out and he was nowhere to be found. This was a small room. Not even a fly could disappear in this room. I looked in the closet, in the dresser, every where I could think of. Check the windows they were still secure. Where was the little monster? Somehow I got a feeling I should look up. Sure enough, he had climbed the paneling and was sitting on top of the door frame to the hall. This was all of a quarter of an inch wide. He looked down at me (with laughter in his eyes) like; this will teach you to give me a time out. Exotic Pets Site
