LOL - y'all are both good! grin

When you put it like that, it makes perfect sense. I especially like the comparison to putting someone on a prayer list. That is something any Bapist can relate to!

It sounds like the Planet of the Apes around here:

...the humans being locked up in a cage, being exhibited like apes; a complete opposite of real life...

Imagine if everyone here told Phyllis that she isn't a "Native American" the ones who came on the boats are?

Catholics are the only True Christians- we were the FIRST from Peter on down the line. Late comers are simply foreigners pretending and trying to reproduce the real thing.

Czarina,

I never said you were not a true Christian nor am I actually debating who is or is not a true Christian.

The point of Melissa's article is to show why Catholics are true Christians.

She stated in her article that may other people question this. As someone who is not Catholic - I was attemping to give examples of what some of us are taught about Catholics. If you note; I never said these teachings are correct and I even said about the point that I had concerns with
Quote:
But I will admit that I might be misunderstanding how that works.

I am ready and willing to admit that I am only human and do not understand everything.

Melissa is trying to inform others lovingly about Catholicism. You continue in this thread, however, to try and take it off topic and turn it into a heated and ugly debate. There is no call for that.

If you believe so strongly that Catholicism is the only way to God and heaven, then you should show some loving compassion to those who do not know better and attempt to teach rather than ram it down their throats.

You are right, The Catholic Church is the Church founded by Christ,Matthew 16:v18 And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Someone may prune the family tree but DNA proves you are still a member of the family.

The reason for pruning a tree is to remove dead branches.

Michelle, someone said at a conference that when you need favor, you often ask the mother of the person you need a favor. So when you are praying for something, who would be better to ask for help for you than Mary. She would have His ear. At the wedding feast, Mary asked Jesus to help refill the wine casks for the bride and groom.

Not in genealogy it isn't - sometimes you just don't want to be part of a particular family for some reason or other.

BTW, the Catholic Church didn't do the pruning. Many of the branches cut themselves off. But even so, they can trace themselves back to the Catholic Church.
