And the tree frogs and crickets serenade you. Especially if there is water nearby. A mist sort of settles low and gives everything a muted, etherial look. I love the lake at sunrise and sunset. Thats when the fish are most active and sometimes will flip up out of the water trying to catch flying insects. Being out on the lake during those times are especially wonderful. A few times I have been surrounded by salmon. They sway and swirl around my kayak, I can actually pet them. What a magical time that is. Not another human in sight.

Once at my secluded cove, a salmon came into the shallow area of the water and went belly up then flipped back over. It did this a few times and stayed right in one spot. I knew it was in it's death throws and went to it. I stayed will it for a couple hours and righted her when she'd go belly up. Eventually she did die but I could see she was very pregnant. I had to do what I did next. I took her up on the sand, slit her open and took out the egg sacks. I took them out into the water near the jetty and squeezed out all the eggs around the rocks. If she couldn't lay them herself I felt I had to do it. Next I fileted her and took two slabs home for dinner. The rest of her went to the seagulls. her death was not in vain. This is Nature.

I'm reading all your posts and I can't help but smile -

Thank you all so much for sharing with us!

Reading these reminds of this quotation written by Grandma Moses,
"Life is what we make it, always has been, always will be."

Thank you again for sharing your wisdom!

Hi Sharon, what a great quote from Grandma Moses and so glad you're smiling. You can tell just from your photo that you're a really neat lady. And feel free to stop by on "my happy cloud, where the sky is blue" anytime! Might as well have some tea while you're there!!

You know in the world of "reality" so to speak, there is so much going on, in our lives, in the world, with our health, with our families, and it's easy to become overwhelmed sometimes (and even the most warm and fuzzy of us do it!) it's such a shame though to let what's around us, steal our joy. And I mean that deep down joy that shines from us, keeps us younger, youthful in spirit, adventurous at heart, and loving freely.

The Lord says..."be anxious for nothing"....easier said than done sometimes, because we lean on our intellects, which the Bible talks about also "lean not unto your own understanding" but what a wonderful way to live. Children can do it and we're God's children......faith smile Have a lovely day Sharon!!! smile
