Thanks to the help of a few editors here, I finally bought the component for making my own organic, non-allergenic shampoo. I got castile soap (a BIG container). It's already scented orange with essential oils.
My boyfriend loves orange / citrus smell so I figure it's something we'd both use.
Has anyone tried making their own shampoo? Do you have a recipe I can try?

My boyfriend has dandruff and I found a recipe that included
3oz castile soap 9 drops lavender 15 drops lemon
I think I might try that one!
I always do a shampoo and then a conditioner afterwards - so I'm also looking for conditioner recipes! If I don't condition, my hair gets REALLY tangled.

I have never tried making my own shampoo or conditioner (except one time - using fabric softener ) but I have done some research on it. These are two of the articles I wrote on the subject. Making Your Own Shampoo Homemade Hair Conditioner

It's already scented orange with essential oils. Orange scented shampoo sounds wonderful. I'm in to all kinds of citrus scents.

OK my castile soap is already liquid so I think I'll try variations with adding in herbs to it!
Jase - I'm really not a fan of shea butter of cocoa butter in my hair, so I'll stay away from those I think!
I might try a bit of olive oil, though!

LOL well it's not for everyone. Usually its good for overly coarse dry hair and used as a treatment.
I prefer a mixture of an olive oil with silk protein oil.

My hair is oily so it sounds like a good thing that I won't be trying it!
I just bought some fresh organic rosemary at the store tonight - I remember seeing rosemary on one of the recipes. I am all set to go! Now to find a recipe that involves liquid castille soap ...

OK yes rosemary is supposed to be good for brunette hair which I have. So a recipe I found is:
3 Tbsp rosemary leaves 1 cup distilled water 20 drops lavender essential oil 3/4 up liquid castille soap
Simmer rosemary and water in covered pan 30 minutes. Stand overnight. Strain out leaves. Simmer until only 1/4 cup is left. Filter through coffee filter.
Add to castille soap and lavender, bottle.
OK I'm going to take some photos of my "raw ingredients" and to start the water boiling!

I decided not to try to save the rosemary. So I put all 3/4oz into 2 cups of distilled water. I'm not sure how you could even "measure" rosemary needles but I imagine it was somewhere in the region of 6 of them. So I'm going to simmer for a half hour then let it sit there. I'm thinking about the olive oil - but if I use oil, I always use the oil before I shampoo. I think my hair which is oily to start would be way too oily if my shampoo itself had oil in it. I still have oil in my cabinet to use up (hair hot oil). Once that is all gone I'll look into making that myself! One step at a time
