Michelle, your philosophy reminds me of the song by Faith Evans

If I had to do it all again
I wouldn't take away the rain
cuz I know it made me who I am

Lori,

I'm working on that--remaining present and enjoying the unfolding of life. I just had to make a series of business calls today and instead of thinking of it as this tedious enterprise, I started to think of it as a mystery. Will the person pick up? Will they have the requested letters? What challenges might we face, etc?

It really made the process, which might have been boring, interesting!

I don't listen to country much, so I've never heard that - I need to go find it! Oh, wait that's Faith Hill, who's Faith Evans?

Michelle, I like country music, but don't know any of the current artists. It's Faith Evans, an R&B Singer. The song is called "Again."

My philosophy of life has changed so much as I've grown older.
Now it's all about valuing God, loved ones and life. Almost 4 years ago I took a job that was a lot closer to my home (a few blocks vs 2 hrs in traffic each way)...and it's been such a "quality of life" change for me. Allowing me to embrace everything that I was too busy for or always rushing...
Now I can take a moment and spend that extra time with the kids or even do some writing now - Before it was always rush...rush...rush..
I have also lowered my, I'll call it "nonsense meter"...those people that are out to just be negative and bring me down...I have little tolerance for now and instead of stressing myself...I move on. Life's too short for headaches that aren't necessary. I've also learned to say...NO smile

Six years ago I had a hearattack. It definitely changed my life philosophy. Today, I try to live and let live. I make choices based on my needs and not the needs of my family or friends. I also have learned to say no.
I am not responsible for another's behavior. I am responsible for me and my reactions.

Karen,

I hear that, it's the simple things. I live in New York, a COLD city and for two days in December in 2005, we had NO heat. And my children were on the winter holiday vacation--home with me all day. Ever since then when I come into our apartment on a winter day and it's nice and warm, I'm so thankful. So very VERY thankful.

Leah

Dianne,

Wow! A job two blocks away is a Godsend. How did you go about landing this opportunity?

I think that is one of the hardest lessons that we women can learn sometimes.

We all want to be liked, and are afrai that if we say "no" someone is not going to like us. (At least I know that is what has always been behind my difficulty with the word!)
