I am definitely an Amazon Kindle fan. I adore it. I love being able to instantly download new books no matter where I am. There are many times I've been out on a trip, finished the book I was reading and POOF in two seconds I had the next book in the series, all ready to go.

I subscribe electronically to the Isaac Asimov magazine and every month it just appears on my Kindle, no work needed, no plugging in or manual downloading. It's like magic smile

Are there any other Kindle fans out there? Anyone interested in what it's like?

Since i am moving into an RV, I have been thinking a lot about the Kindle. However, I don't need to download novels, which it seems the Kindle is best for. I read a ton of non-fiction books, and many that require looking at photos (ie - decorating, photography, art, yoga, travel, nature, architecture). With the low res and the black and white photos, not sure if the Kindle is something for me?

No -- I would not recommend the Kindle for the type of projects you described -- The Kindle has a lot of features but in reality it is for reading books

Your laptop could do better for those purposes, to read PDF files with large sized images smile

I am looking at the new kindle 2. I might just have to save up and finally get one. I have looked on ebay to try finding one but they were always priced more than amazon's direct pricing or when i found one for cheaper, people jumped on the bandwagon and outbid me

Have you heard about the Plastic something one? its bigger and has a touch screen.

You can pre-order your Kindle 2 BY CLICKING HERE ;0)

I have just received two eBook Readers to test and review -- One is the Sony and the other is called jetBook eBook Reader -- The Kindle 2 has some key features these two units do not have, but you should ask yourself what features your really need from an eBook Reader -- There are many new models making their appearance and many are 1/2 the price of the Sony or Kindle 2

I personally like the Sony E-reader. It has a number of things that the Kindle doesnt- for example its touchscreen and you can highlight and flip pages on your screen. The images are great so its perfect for non-fiction or how-to books. Plus it reads a number of different format. Drawbacks- battery life and no wi-fi.
